William Callyhan Robinson papers 1869-1881

The papers consist of the journals of William C. Robinson and his wife, Anna E. H. Robinson. Each volume records the daily thoughts and activities of the individuals while they lived and worked in New Haven, Connecticut. Both William and Anna Robinson were deeply religious and there is evidence of this throughout the journals.

William C. Robinson was born in Norwich, Connecticut, on July 26, 1834. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1854, and the General Theological Seminary, New York, in 1857. After about five years of work in the active ministry, Robinson studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1864. He practiced law in New Haven, Connecticut, and was an instructor (1869-1872) and professor (1872-1896) at the Yale Law School.
